Oscar Narud & Amy Hunting - Exhibition designers for 100% Norway 2012

I am excited to say I will be designing this years 100% Norway exhibition at The London Design Festival this September in London, together with Amy Hunting. This years exhibition will have some exciting changes, one of them being the venue. The exhibition will be at the Dray Walk Gallery at Tent London in Brick Lane. The gallery is 246 m² with an outdoor space, which will also be used as part of the exhibition. The exhibition is subsidised by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in London, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Norwegian Design Council.

100% Norway will take place from 20-23 of September 2012.

Raw Craft : a contemporary revival in raw technique

Launching at COLLECT 2012, Raw Craft captures a contemporary craft movement, presenting works characterised by a deliberate transparency of technique, materiality and process, evident in their look and feel.

Focussing on furniture, the work displayed reveals a subtle originality in the way that skills and resources are employed, imbuing the furniture with a simplicity yet high quality. For the makers featured, explicit making skills and materials are the central means for exploring ideas.

Curated by the Crafts Council with Michael Marriott, designer, and Brent Dzekciorius, of Phillips de Pury as curatorial advisors to Raw Craft, the exhibition presents one-offs, limited editions and prototypes from makers including Peter Marigold, Oscar Narud and Fabien Capello.

London designers Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay of Raw Edges created an animated pond at the Bloomberg offices in London using equipment the company had thrown away.

The Pond, the installation featured an animation by Oscar Narud spanning 60 discarded computer monitors, showing fish, dragon flies and ducks darting between the screens.

The installation was initiated by Arts Co as part of their Waste Not Want Not project commissioned by Bloomberg Philanthropy.
